SIBLINGS by Diamondback Bicycles

SIBLINGS by Diamondback Bicycles

http://bit.ly/2UPnfBg

For all you Brothers and Sisters out there... this ones for you. Our stories are all different, yet the same, and the names are endless: Adventure buddy, co-pilot, copy-cat, tag-along, queen, king... The list is long, but what it boils down to is simply brother or sister, or as I like to put it, best friend, worst enemy. Childhood was like one giant experiment and, being the younger sibling, my fate as human guinea pig was sealed from the get-go. But like Dad always said, "Every scar is one part story, and one part wisdom," and by the age of 10 us kids could have opened our own library. Over the years, we gained a lot of “wisdom” together, trying to best each other and take on the world. Through it all, bikes have fueled our adventures, sparked our imaginations, led us through a few battles, and continually reminded us of what’s most important: we’re all family. Presented By: Diamondback Bikes Written and Directed By:  Scott Carlson Mike Hopkins Produced By: Juicy Studios Mike Hopkins Cinematography: Derek Frankowski Editing/VFX: Scott Carlson Sound Design: Keith White Narration: Graham Tracey Cast in Order of Appearance:  Aven and Skyler Hopkins Rory, Reed, and Ryland Johannson Katien Simpson Jamie and Hugo Ansede Lola and Westin Carlson Josie and Daylen Clayden  Cole and Grayson McCauley Simon and Toby Hillis Ollie, Tatum, and Heath Clement Samara and Bodie Kuhn Chase and Ryder Eagleton Max Anhel Ben Kroeker Logan and Kian Merringer Trevor McCauley  Kari Kuznecov Gavin Gauvin Joe and Mike Hopkins Cal Dueck  Norm Hopkins A huge heartfelt "Thanks!!" to the amazing community of Rossland, All the Parents and kids involved, and, RSS and Patrick Kinghorn for letting us skid around the School. Thank you!

No, I Don't Want to Dance! by Andrea Vinciguerra

No, I Don't Want to Dance! by Andrea Vinciguerra

http://bit.ly/2VUfMhA

These are dark times. The growing amount of political, social and environmental issues fill the agendas of millions of concerned people around the world. You may think that in our modern and thorough times, every potential hazard has been identified. You would be wrong. There is a critical issue that, as yet, nobody has taken into consideration: how dangerous dance can be. We’re living in a world where dance is everywhere and, believe it or not, your kids will one day be asked to dance. Blindly following other people’s “movements” may lead to catastrophic consequences. This short film aims to raise awareness of how deadly dangerous dance can be. So hopefully, one day, when someone asks you, you will be able to reply: "No, I don't want to dance!” Featured on: - http://bit.ly/2IPUNJk - http://bit.ly/2ItKIT0 - http://bit.ly/2ILvVCk - http://bit.ly/2GzEnTQ A little behind the scene from our campaign shot in 1983 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to8LlMuQMKI&t=5s Written and directed by: Andrea Vinciguerra Producer: Georgie Beattie Andrea Vinciguerra Executive Producer: Sandrine Servent Andrea Vinciguerra Associate Producer: Kimberley Le Blanc Animator: Tim Allen Will Hodge Puppet Maker: Adeena Grubb Model Maker: Kat Simpson Costume Maker: Isabelle Riley Set Builder: Phil Shaw Dop: Jamie Kennerley Thomas Wootton Will Hodge Model Maker Assistant: Meg Dupont Julia Lopez Martinez Props Maker Assistant: Nada Moussa VFX: Alberto Falcone Mark Miko Extra VFX: Ferenc Miko Sound Design: Father Music Composer: Pietro Ventimiglia Grade: Joseph Bicknell at Company3 (NYC) Storyboard: Victoria Budgett Animatic Sound: Francesco Corsello Equipment: Mark Swaffield Special Thanks to: Paola Lizza, Claudio Giambrusso, Poitr Tomasikiewicz, Christian Schofield - Panalux, Gary Welch, Bloc Space, Crowdfunding campaign thanks for the contribution to: Laure-Helene Prevost, Marcello Vinciguerra, Pavel Kingurov Kat Wood Jacopo Genovese Jesus Loniego

The Online Speech Wars by The Atlantic

The Online Speech Wars by The Atlantic

http://bit.ly/2VN7xEb

In theory, individuals should have the same rights online as they do in the physical world. But in practice, this is uncharted legal territory. Perhaps the most contentious area is free-speech law. “Your First Amendment rights exist in a digital space, just as much as they exist in the real world,” says Lata Nott, the executive director of the First Amendment Center of the Freedom Forum Institute, in a new animated video. Nott goes on to explain how a group of Twitter users who were blocked by President Donald Trump’s official Twitter account took this idea to the courts—and won. This video is part of The Speech Wars, a project of The Atlantic, and is supported by the Charles Koch Foundation, the Reporters Committee for the Freedom of the Press, and the Fetzer Institute.

Elastic Recurrence by johan rijpma

From all directions gravity pulls on the shards of a breaking dinner plate. While the pieces of the plate expand into space, elastic strings try to draw them back together. A self-replicating cycle of falling and retracting follows from the dead center position of each piece. Even though this expansion of matter appears to be never ending, the new connections seem to unify all the fragments into a recollection of the initial form. More info: http://bit.ly/2PoTgel

Baloji - ZOMBIES (Official Short film) by BALOJI

http://bit.ly/2Dv9z4F

Baloji - ZOMBIES (Official Short film) The film "Zombie" is a journey between hope and dystopia in a hallucinated Kinhsasa, from the culture of the hair salon to futuristic solitary clubbing, from the urban parade to the glory of a dictator in campaign (Papa Bollo) to modern western in the Takeshi Kitano style. In parallel, the film is based on the almost carnal relationship we have with our phones. The device becoming like an outgrowth of the hand and giving us the talent of digital ubiquity... Phoolon Wali Holi by Kieran Mellor

Phoolon Wali Holi by Kieran Mellor

http://bit.ly/2W0M8Yc

Since witnessing the insane celebrations of Holi inside Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, I knew that these celebrations deserved their own little film. Hours before the temple doors open, thousands upon thousands of devotees gather to take part in the 20 minute flower and colour throwing celebration of Phoolon Wali Holi. As the doors open, an unstoppable surge begins as the crowd funnels inside and the chanting and applause becomes thunderous. Many people carry offerings which they will bring to the front of the temple to devote to the deities, others pray as they enter through stone archways. For me, however, the most intense part comes when the entire temple unites in raising their hands, and yelling in unison as colours and flowers surround them. Edited in Premiere Pro and After Effects. Gear used: Canon EOS 1DX Mark II Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II Syrp 82mm Variable ND Filter DJI Mavic 2 Pro

A film by Pedro and James Castells is a film that looks into the art of human towers in Catalonia. It explores the characters and the communities that are part of this beautiful and mesmerising tradition. Castells are seemingly a simple activity; people climb on top of each other to create the highest tower. However, under the surface they are a metaphor to how communities interact, everyone playing a role, sacrificing oneself for a greater common objective. They illustrate how being part of society is about participation and interaction. Anonymous Comes To Town by The Guardian

http://bit.ly/2GuJxQN

The sleepy rustbelt town of Steubenville, Ohio, was once best known for high school sports and as the birthplace of Dean Martin. But when a teen sexual assault committed by two members of the football team surfaced, the shadowy hacker group Anonymous caught wind of the story and decided to intervene. After publishing videos and social media from the night of the assault to their millions of online followers, they sparked viral outrage and demands for #JusticeforJaneDoe. They unleashed a passionate mob and their actions divided the small town, but in the process gave strength to generations of women forced to hide abuse. This film asks, when it seems like nothing will change, when is it OK for outsiders to intervene?

OCTAVE by James Medcraft

OCTAVE by James Medcraft

http://bit.ly/2X4NCkr

www.JAMESMEDCRAFT.COM ‘OCTAVE’ is an exploration of the urban world made new through the reordering of physical time. The notion of time as a physical, tangible and malleable medium has always been a big influence within my work. By reordering and distorting time ‘OCTAVE’ is an exploration of the frenetic architecture, rhythm and geometry of Hong Kong. Filmed from a moving vehicle, the film utilises motion and time to create a seamless evolving architectural canvas, viewing the urban environment from a unique perspective. We see the world around us reinterpreted by our own relativity; our physical distance, speed and angle helps to paint our own unique and subjective relationship to the world we inhabit. Motion picture born out of the last 130 years has sought to explore the world in a time based environment, whereby static juxtaposed images change their meaning to one another when combined in different arrangements, creating a subjective image. By using the medium of time to reshape our perceived relative world OCTAVE imagines the urban environment in an organic state, re-shaping and re-ordering as a new form of architecture. As the name suggests ‘OCTAVE’ is inspired by the visual and structural language of musical notation. Beats, bars, repeating and ascending rhythms of notes evolve and develop to create evolving scores of emotions. A commissioned composition ‘te amo laughing / future jail’ by the Los Angeles duo ‘Lucky Dragons’ adds a humanistic layer to the concrete world OCTAVE explores. As described by the artists the composition is based on the ‘auditory illusion described by Diana Deutsch, in which one's attention starts to find patterns in long sequences of looping syllables that fall somewhere between language and music - sometimes appearing as rhythms and melodies, sometimes as words or phrases - usually with unique effects for each listener. Director, Cinematographer, Editor: James Medcraft Musical Composition 'te amo laughing / future jail' Courtesy Lucky Dragons / Luke Fischbeck and Sarah Rara Local Hong Kong production: Khiang Tan & Jo Cheung at Wow Wow Tank Production support UK: Tristan Earl at Red Lorry Yellow Lorry Equipment Loan: Canon UK, Focus 24 Vehicle driver: Marco Lau

I had the privilage of being Lead Animator on this film, at Nexus Studios. Was great to work with the whole team once again! I animated the car section at the beginning until the guitar handover, and the final dragon sequence, and a bunch other stuff in between, and generally oversee the 2D animation. I also did the storyboard/animatic/layout process and worked out the 2d camera moves. Its always great to work with Smith and Foulkes because they like to see what the animators and designers come up with, so they give us a lot of freedom to put our own creativity into their projects. ‘Space to Roam’ is a film inspired by all the unique structures, patterns, and overall “otherworldly” landscapes found in Southwestern America’s public lands in hopes of protecting them.

This project is dedicated to the people who preserve the history of and protect our public lands. It is also in honor of 'astronaut' Kyle Hague's grandmother who unfortunately passed away during production.

What an incredible honor it was to work on such an important cause. When I was approached by We Are Royale to work on the animation, I immediately felt a huge responsibility to help visualize the stories being told by these victims, and in their own voice. The voices and audio itself inspired us immensely and we used that to influence the style with sound waves & contour line animation. The message itself is what's important and I'm extremely happy I could put my efforts towards an amazing cause. NORDURLAND - An arctic surfing adventure by needessentials1@gmail.com

Nordurland is a film about going surfing in the harsh, cold waters of the North Atlantic. It follows three friends from the subtropical northern rivers of NSW Australia, surfers Torren Martyn and Laurie Towner, as well as needessentials founder and designer Ryan Scanlon. They travel to isolated, snow covered coastlines in search of remote waves and Filmmaker Ishka Folkwell, beautifully captures these vast and stunning landscapes on screen. With an original soundtrack composed for the film by Headland, glaciers, mountains and powerful icy surf all come to life in this adventure to the far north. Torren Martyn's narration throughout the film offers a personal reflection on the trip and a real glimpse into the challenges and rewards of traveling to frozen, distant lands in search of surf.
