A blend of 'The Warriors' and 'From Dusk Til Dawn', 'Proceeds' is an all-female badass crime-horror caper with a bizarre dark comedy slant. Styled in aesthetics from the Berlin techno underground, this powerful female gang rules the night. Their mission is to cut the hair off beautiful women and sell it on the black market but they soon find out they aren't the only predators lurking the streets after dark. a gnarly bay mini project featuring Thomas Deininger . Director: gnarly bay Producer: Kyle King DP: Tyler Murgo + Jordan Ingram AC/DIT/Audio: Jack Ieronimo Edit: Jordan Ingram Post Supervision: Dan Riordan Dana Saint Sound Design/Mix: Jared Blizzard Jordan Ingram Executive Producers: Dan Riordan Dana Saint . Early in 2019, we were searching for stories about interesting people in our area so that we could create some client-free creative profiles in our down time. Thanks to the infinite scroll of twitter, we were turned on to the work of this amazing artist named Thomas Deininger. It was actually a random tweet from the actor that plays Boba Fett in the Star Wars prequels that claimed Tom was one of the most inspiring creators he had come across lately. We were intrigued by the amazing artwork in the low quality GIF that he posted, and then, following the internet rabbit hole, we realized that he was from RI. His studio was less than an hour away...like everything in Rhode Island is, so our producer Kyle King made contact. Tom welcomed us into his world and shared his perspectives on some big themes and how his anxieties and fears about human consumption and plastic waste create the foundation of his medium for artistic expression. . Enjoy.

Islandia by Madebyvadim

Islandia by Madebyvadim

https://ift.tt/2Ncfgu1

Islandia is a non-narrative two minutes short drone film about primal beauty of Iceland. Islandia - is a Latin name for Iceland and relative to the old language since this film portraits primordial and rough nature of Iceland. For the short duration of the film, you will be transported to a place that easily could be a million years ago. From unbelievable landscapes and vast valleys to painting-like terrain and majestic waterfalls and lakes - this film shows the unparalleled beauty of Iceland and its unearthly glory. Please sit back and enjoy the flight. Technical info: - All footage shot on DJI Mavic 2 Pro. - Several ND filters from Polar Pro were used for filming. - I used Davinci Resolve 16 for editing, VFX, SFX, and grading. - Adobe Audition was used to mix soundscore. - Adobe After Effects were used for titles and minor fixes - Original music score by Luke Atencio and Ryan Taubert was licensed at Musicbed. - SFX are free samples by various creators and Singularity six by Film Crux.

Almost Perfect. by Ryan Gasparini

Almost Perfect. by Ryan Gasparini

https://ift.tt/2ymF7qy

In June, I travelled to Tokyo to make a film about a creative residence called Almost Perfect. Located in a quiet, downtown area, it’s as if the crazy neon lights and packed streets that everyone imagines when they picture the city have vanished and been replaced by cyclists, applied artists and locals peacefully going about their day. It’s run by two people (Yuka and Luis Mendo) and a cat (Señor), who all also live in the house. Oh, and the building is a 100-year old ex-rice shop. The video is about who they are, what they do, and the city it all happens in. Making this film was an absolute joy, massive thanks to Luis and Yuka, Anton (who produced the music), and everyone else I met along the way (especially Señor!) instagram.com/ryangasparini almostperfect.jp

SERVER ROOM by AB/CD/CD

SERVER ROOM by AB/CD/CD

https://ift.tt/2MdceGa

Short film Based on Richard Brautigan poem “All watched over by machines of loving grace”, 1967 Dystopia is no longer tomorrow. It is here, now and today. Entropy is real and will never stop. That’s how we understand R. Brautigan’s poem when we read it today. That’s what it means to us. He may have written it in a much more optimistic way in a much more optimistic time… Or was he being sarcastic? Today everything has changed, global warming scares us, the harmony between nature, animals and human beings is broken, we are scared of our place in the ecological environment, we are disorientated. We are hoping technology can solve our problems, but instead it takes us away from reality and no matter what, we can’t resist. In “Server Room”, we develop an enigmatic universe where an AI tries to recreate this balance between mammals and computers, but this attempt only produces distortion and monsters, each attempts to “watch over” goes wrong, we’re not sure if there is a happy end here. This is a first step before another short film which will follow next year, set in a totally different world, but revolving around the same emergency. Really thankful to all the team to make it happen First all the actors ! Max Cooper - Perpetual Motion (Official Video by Nick Cobby) by Max Cooper

https://ift.tt/2Z7DTub

MAX COOPER Thanks for having a look at the first video from my next audio-visual album coming later this year. The whole project was a commission from the Barbican centre in London, where they do a lot of great events, I've seen many of my favourite gigs there. So I wanted to prepare something special, and something intense, using the structure of the beautiful hall there as a canvas for the show. Their brief was around emerging new technologies and how they're changing society, so I tried to boil the whole process down to its fundamentals which I could visualise and write music for - which spawned "yearning for the infinite". The idea being that we're locked in our societal- and nature-driven pursuit of growth and knowledge and more, always more. I had come across some really beautiful ideas for visualising the infinite which I'll tell you more about later as the content comes, and I decided to combine these abstract visualisations with stories of us, in our endless activity as part of the systems in which we exist. This also gave me the potential for the scale and intensity I wanted to create for the project. This particular chapter comes later on in the show when both the human story and the abstractions (transcendental digits from Martin Krzywinski, aperiodic tiling from Jessica In and dividing surfaces from Andy Lomas) start to merge. The great visual artist and long term collaborator Nick Cobby had time in Mexico city which seemed an amazing opportunity to capture this dense human activity, and once again he's created another of his tightly synced and detailed masterpieces, many thanks Nick! I recommend watching on a big screen where possible. Lots more to come soon, thanks for watching and listening. NICK COBBY Max's idea for Perpetual Motion was to document the continuous movement of people, exploring how there is no inherent meaning in life, only our own meaning which we create through striving towards our goals. When we discussed the idea of the film, Max and I felt Mexico City was the perfect place to use as a canvas. A sprawling metropolis of 9 million people, all packed in tight and some really interesting land forms and architecture. I then got the idea of using drones when scouting for locations on Google Earth. There were some amazing geometric forms that when viewed from above give an entirely different perspective of the city. I was really interested in the juxtaposition of these orderly forms with the irregular, disorderly chaos confined within it. For me it really helped push the idea of living as part of a perpetual system. I collaborated with 3 very talented Mexican photographers who shot some incredible footage for me, Manuel Marañón, Roberto H and Santiago Arau. It was a pleasure to collaborate with them and I hope the film can be shown in Mexico some time soon. For the animation side, I collaborated with Andy Lomas and Jessica In, integrating their forms frame by frame into the drone footage with my own point data, aiming to create unexpected transitions and connections between reality, hyper realism and the hidden systems beneath. https://ift.tt/2yXcPTO video by Rus Khasanov music by Dmitry Evgrafov (https://ift.tt/2N20wgX) There is a story that prompted me to create this project. It is about how creative challenges and difficulties become the basis for new ideas. Even with my extensive experience working in this style, which I created randomly and developed my style with each new project, sometimes it’s hard to take not a “random beauty”, but a specific shot, precise movement, and you can spend several hours of hard work stubbornly searching for the right shot, or even a few days. This was last fall, I was called for commercial shooting in Seoul. We had 3 shooting days. The central idea was to get this shot: two paint balls on a clean colourful background merge into one big ball. It sounds pretty simple, but really... no matter what I did, such a shot did not work out in any way, any tricks, influences came down to one result: the paint balls simply burst and the paint settled a bright spot to the bottom. Or the paint balls froze for minutes side by side and then burst. For all these shooting days, a bursting paint ball was a real nightmare for me. A lot of beautiful footage were shot, but I couldn’t catch the main footage. Only on the last day of filming I did get the required few footage for merging paint balls, but it's chance and luck. A couple of months later, as a result of experiments with various ingredients, I found an easy and stable way for the paint balls to be attracted to each other, merged and not burst. When you master the technique, you can already playfully turn the flaws into advantages: now in the bursting paint ball I see not a nightmare, but a bright colorful explosion which reminds me of fireworks. Also in this video, the bokeh effect plays a major role. Some people reproach me that my work is not sharp, and that I shoot with a small depth of field, but I never saw this as a problem, but on the contrary, I see this as beauty.
