The fruit of a broken heart and endless binging on Italian romantic comedies, “Paroles d’Amour” (French for words of love) is the very first collaboration between Chiara Luber and Passion Paris. The film, which was directed in full 2D, recounts the romantic setbacks of a carefree, naive and fickle young heroine. A series of soft, muted images illustrate the words of our disillusioned heroine, Mina, enwrapping them with a subtle mix of comfort and tears. Fairytales of Motion by Alan Warburton

Fairytales of Motion by Alan Warburton

Animators often build characters and their motions at the same time, creating an equivalence between who someone is and how they move. It feels natural, but in fact it’s a technique designed to aid storytelling. It’s a fairytale of motion. That’s what this film is about. A film by Alan Warburton, created for Tate Exchange, animation by https://ift.tt/1J3jRWb.

Life of Pie by Patagonia

https://ift.tt/2xoytzD

In 2002, mountain bikers and entrepreneurs Jen Zeuner and Anne Keller moved to Fruita, Colorado, in search of cheap rent, world-class single track, and free time to ride. Over 15 years later, the two unconventional women have helped reshape one of the state’s most conservative towns, uniting the community through advocacy, inclusivity, and damn good pizza.

Lightfarm and Area 23 bring home the Gold Lion for Best Film at the Cannes Festival. The video “One Word” is a mix of 3D and 2D animation that was created using Blender (Eevee) Cinema 4D, Zbrush, Houdini, After Effects and Photoshop. The campaign “One Word”, made for The Learning Corp’s newest app “Constant Therapy”, was brought to life to assist trauma patients who have suffered a brain injury. This video required the focus and effort of the entire Lightfarm team and was impressively created in about 2 months. And we would like to thank Area23 for inviting us to be a part of this amazing journey. We are very excited and proud of this achievement.

"-N- Uprising" is an experimental video that evokes the cycles of nature. The video highlights several species of insects and flowers on colored backgrounds. For 7 months, I observed insects and mainly the butterfly cycle where we see the caterpillar turn into chrysalis and then the butterfly out of the chrysalis. The Insect videos were filmed in 8K with camera RED Helium 8K. The flower outbreaks are an assemblage of hundreds of 5K photos that have been made on a regular interval. If you already know my work on paintings, by watching this video, you will understand that I try to work on another theme that is close to my heart while keeping a similarity to my work before. The Icebreaker. Short film by Timelab.pro by Timelab.pro

http://bit.ly/31Bz0ft

This video was shot in the Arctic Ocean in March 2018. For 7 days our crew passed through the Barents Sea to Karsky around the Novaya Zemlya archipelago on the nuclear icebreaker Yamal - we saw the northern lights and polar bears, watched the ships stuck in the ice being towed, and were very cold. In the video you can see two Russian icebreakers - “50 Years of Victory” and “Yamal” with a capacity of 75,000 horsepower and a distinctive shark mouth, which appeared on it in 1994 during one of the children's humanitarian programs. According to legend, someone suggested drawing a smiling shark mouth on the nose to make it more fun for children. At present, Russia has the only nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet in the world. They are used to provide wiring ships in the ices of the Northern Sea Route in the freezing ports of the Russian Federation, research expeditions, rescue operations and tourist cruises. In addition to the extreme weather conditions, the shooting was complicated by the fact that the icebreaker was always in motion. And if the drone was flying over the radar tower, the recording file was damaged. Shot on DJI Inspire 2 with Zenmuse X7 camera in Prores 2.7K50FPS Filmed a specially for the documentary Russia From Above produced by Coloufield.de

Fathers by Dumas Haddad

Fathers by Dumas Haddad

http://bit.ly/2WGEilS

“FATHERS” is a powerful documentary that interrogates and challenges stereotypes surrounding the role of the black father in modern society. “FATHERS” gives us an insight into the emotional and spiritual lives of a group of young black men, whose mental health is all too often disregarded. It charts their experiences navigating the persistent tug of war between providing for their families, fulfilling their creative and artistic ambitions and raising a young family. The film is underscored by a beautiful sound-bed, with music from the album "Our Father" by Azekel, and accompanied by the rich tones of artist and poet Sophia Thakur. Thakur’s voice is heard on the film itself – highlighting a mother’s perspective of the battle that she sees these "superheroes" going through. Created by BYUS Group, consisting of Azekel, Ade Adesina, Olan Collardy & Dumas Haddad, who are all young fathers in the creative industry themselves. They have endeavoured to provide a truly artistic, innovative unique and artistic approach to documentary storytelling. Every year in May, the Centifolia rose blooms in Grasse, France. It is the rarest, most fragrant rose in the world and can only be harvested by hand, at dawn, within a four-hour window. Rose pickers from neighboring towns arrive every May at rose fields which have been cultivated by the family for six generations. Jes Fan In Flux | Art21 "New York Close Up" by Art21

Jes Fan In Flux | Art21 "New York Close Up" by Art21

http://bit.ly/2WoImav

How can we be certain that the binary can satisfy us? A trained glass artist, sculptor Jes Fan creates elegant installation works that quietly question our most fundamental assumptions about gender, race, and identity. At UrbanGlass in downtown Brooklyn, the artist heats, rolls, and sculpts molten glass. He explains, "Learning how this matter transformed itself from one state into another really entranced me into thinking, 'How I can I apply it to other mediums?'" At the Recess artist residency in Brooklyn, Fan constructs a new work, filling hollow glass globules with silicone and injecting them with politically charged biological materials like testosterone, estrogen, melanin, and fat. These organ-like forms are then hung on a lattice structure. Detaching biological substances from the context of the body, Fan is able to examine their meanings and allow the viewer to see them in a completely new light. Fan's personal experiences—moving from his native Hong Kong to the United States, growing up queer, and transitioning—have profoundly shaped his artistic practice. "Maybe it is triggering the similar experiences of being racialized or being gendered," says Fan of handling the materials injected into his work. "It's just a disposition that you're constantly placed in—a constant act of othering." Jes Fan lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. The Encounter by Marko Roth

The Encounter by Marko Roth

http://bit.ly/2R1vzcY

Today, instead of actually living and experiencing things, we have become obsessed with superficial moments that can be shared on social media. We have forgotten about the conversations, relationships and adventures that we could have if we just took the time to get to know people. This film is about what happens if we do. We follow an encounter between Alice and Ali. Alice is a 25-year-old documentary photographer and activist who spent much time on the frontlines of the European refugee crisis. Ali works in Oman to support his family back in Pakistan. For 8 months of the year he lives in the desert without seeing his wife, daughters or friends. We documented what happens in the days after Alice takes a photo of Ali. They are not actors and there was no script. This is the real story of people getting to know each other. We captured their conversations and slowly discover Ali’s heartbreaking story. As well as his surprising attitude to his circumstances. The film was shot on analog to focus on what was really essential. And to reinforce how valuable authentic moments really are – something that is easy to forget with the slickness and disposability of digital film. With “The Encounter” we wanted to remind people about the real connections they could be missing. Because every person has a story. If you take the time to listen.
